6÷2(1+2)=? Viral Math Problem| Maths Theory Mathematical puzzles
Multiplication and Division are the same thing; division is just multiplying by a fraction.
Addition and Subtraction are the same thing; subtraction is adding a negative number.
When people are taught PEMDAS, they are misled to believe that multiplication should be done before division. The same thing goes for addition and subtraction.
First, evaluate (1+2).
6 ÷ 2 (3)
Now, everyone wants to multiply 2*3, but because multiplication and division are the same thing (the same step) you go left to right.
6 ÷ 2 is done first.
6 ÷ 2 = 3
3(3)=9
3 × 3 = 9
The correct answer is 9.
